Johanna Biank
Johanna Biank has an M.A. in Classical Philology from The Humboldt University in Berlin. She was a Research Scholar at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin since 2012 and successfully defended her PhD in 2017. Her dissertation research deals with the transfer and transformation of ancient astronomical knowledge in the Early Modern Period. She is investigating the manner in which spherical astronomy was reshaped and classical astronomical sources were reassessed during the Renaissance, due to novel intellectual challenges, especially in the context of the humanistic culture.
